From its humble beginnings as a market stall in Camden, Black Sheep Coffee has since become a high street name hosting 69 UK stores and more recently expanding into international waters.
The company was founded in 2013 by co-founders Gabriel Shohet and Eirik Holth who aimed to ‘rid the world of boring average-tasting coffee’ by opting for high quality robusta coffee beans rather than the industry standard arabica.
Since its inception the pair have continued their commitment to sustainability by not using any single use plastics and choosing ‘100% compostable takeaway cups’ for all of their ‘speciality graded coffee’ and hot drinks.
Black Sheep also aims to reduce food waste by posting any food which is ‘coming to the end of its display life on the Kama platform which allows the local community to buy food and juices half price’. This comes part of the company’s commitment to ‘take down big corporate chains’, by producing excellent coffee in a none- harmful way.
The much-loved coffee company will make its debut in the USA next year with two new stores opening in Dallas.
